NATCHITOCHES – After it took two of three games from Oral Roberts to win its first Southland Conference series of the season, the Northwestern State baseball team will host LSU-Alexandria in non-conference action at 6:30 on Wednesday at Brown-Stroud Field.
The Demons (9-9) lost the first game 15-0 at ORU on Friday, but swept the doubleheader, 3-1 and 6-4, the next day to win the series.
Steven Spann entered both games of the twinbill from the bullpen and earned a save and win.
The Generals with enter Wednesday's game with an 18-9, and Northwestern State will be the first NCAA team the NAIA program faces this season. LSUA has lost four of its last five contests.
Left-handed pitcher
Hunter Duvic (0-3, 9.00 earned run average) will get the start on the mound for NSU. He has five appearances and four starts with 16 strikeouts and nine walks in 18.0 inning pitched.
Pierce Liberta (0-1, 3.78) will face the Demons, and has eight strikeouts and three walks in 16.2 innings pitched.
As a team, the Generals hit for a .260 batting average with 141 runs scored and 127 knocked in. Stefan Porche leads LSUA with a .355 batting average, followed by Keagan Kratzer (.349), Tyler Mathis (.333), and Bond Babin (.325). Babin has a team-high 20 runs scored and 17 RBIs. Kratzer has 19 runs scored and 10 knocked in.
Edwin Gomez leads NSU with a .322 average, and has eight runs and four RBIs. Joel Aktinson,

Chase Daughdrill have 11 runs scored, which is the team-high. Daughdrilll leads the team with 15 runs batted in.
Northwestern State will host Stephen F. Austin for a three-game, conference series that starts on Friday at 6:30. The second game will be at 2:00 on Saturday and the third game will be on Sunday at 1 o'clock.
