TULSA, Okla. – Two days after scoring a season-high 29 points at Central Arkansas,
Trudy Armstead will lead the Northwestern State women's basketball team on the road against Oral Roberts at 12:30 on Saturday in Southland Conference action.
NSU (10-8, 3-3 SLC) and ORU (4-12, 3-3) are tied for eighth place in the league standings. The Lady Demons lost on Thursday at Central Arkansas, and the Golden Eagles downed Stephen F. Austin at home.
"They (Golden Eagles) are the defending champions and coming off an NCAA tournament berth," said Lady Demon co-head coach
Brooke Stoehr. "A couple of their players are returners from last year. They've got good size and have a lot of new players that are getting a lot of minutes."
Armstead led all scorers in the loss to the Sugar Bears on Thursday night. She had 17 of Northwestern State's 29 points at halftime.
NSU had a two-point lead at the break, but UCA used a 9-0 run to overcome it and increased the lead to win 73-61
The Lady Demons have three players who average 10 or more points a contest this season. Armstead leads the way with 15,
Keisha Lee has 14.8 an outing and
Janelle Perez scores 10.1 a game.
As a team, NSU scores 64.1 and allows 64.9 points contest.
Armstead and
Kourtney Pennywell are tied for the team-lead in rebounds with 5.7 a contest.

"We have to do a good job defending them and they run some good stuff," said Stoehr. "Their size could cause some problems for us and they run a difficult zone on the defensive end.
"We have faced that zone this season, and hopefully the experience will help us when we see them on Saturday," she said.
The game will be broadcast on 100.7 KZBL-FM in Natchitoches by the voice of the Lady Demons, Tony Taglavore. It can also be heard on NSUDemons.com
Northwestern State will return to the floor to open a four-game home stand that starts on Thursday at 5:30 with Incarnate Word.
