Box Score Kody Neel's two-run double down the right field line sparked a four-run first inning that gave Louisiana Tech all it need to beat the Northwestern State baseball team 7-2 Tuesday night in non-conference action.

Neel's double gave the Bulldogs (19-34) a 3-0 lead one batter after Ervine drew a bases loaded walk from Demon (15-38) starter Dillon Crain (1-1) to open the scoring at 1-0. Crain took the loss after allowing three hits and three walks that scored four runs.

Ervine scored from third base when Taylor Burch grounded into a double-play to finish out the inning.

Louisiana Tech put together a second big inning in the seventh, all on two outs.  Neel drew a walk followed by Jacob Derouen and a hit by pitch. After back-to-back wild pitches, Neel scored and Derouen advanced to third base.

Two batters later, Kyle Arnsberg singled to right field to score Derouen, and Thomas Simoneaux doubled down the left field line to score Colby Johnson, who reached on walk.

Northwestern State went through seven pitchers, and all but three pitched one or more innings without allowing a run.

Zach Krebs was the second Demon pitcher and worked two innings with one hit allowed.  A.J. Funk pitched two hitless innings and struck out three batters.

Todd Wallace had a one-out double to right center field in the sixth inning, and Cort Brinson knocked him in one batter later on a double down the right field line.

NSU's final run came in the eighth inning when Matt Baca singled to center field to score Matt Farmer, who reached on a leadoff walk.

Adam Derouen (2-1) took the win on 5.2 innings pitched with a run allowed on seven hits and one strikeout.

Edwin Gomez was two-of-four.  Baca and Brinson were each one-for-four with one run batted in.

Simoneaux was two-of-two with a RBI, and Austin Hedges was two-for-four.

The Demons return to action on Thursday at 6:30 for the final series of the season at home with Oral Roberts.  NSU's “Senior Day” is on Friday and the final game of the season will be on Saturday at 2 o'clock.
