NATCHITOCHES – The Northwestern State baseball team will finish its four-game home stand on Wednesday when the Demons take on Louisiana-Lafayette at 6:30 in Brown-Stroud Field.
The Demons (10-23, 1-8 Southland Conference) go in to the game after dropping, 2-1, a three-game league series to Central Arkansas. The Ragin' Cajuns (22-9, 6-6 Sun Belt) won their conference series against Troy, 2-1.
The two teams have already met once this season, in February, and Lafayette took the game 12-3 after three Cajuns had a multi-RBI game.
Ashton Sivigliano (2-0, 3.92 ERA), who Northwestern State is expected to start on Wednesday, threw one inning in that game and was perfect with two strikeouts. Cord Cockrell (3-1, 4.19 ERA) started the last matchup and is expected to start on Wednesday.
Will Watson is coming off a seven-for-13 weekend at the plate with two stolen bases and no strikeouts. He leads the team in batting average (.333), hits (37), and runs batted in (14).
Tyler Girouard is ULL's leading hitter with a .407 batting average, and Caleb Adams leads the team with 24 RBI. Seven Cajuns are hitting above the .300-mark.
The Demons will return to Southland Conference action this weekend when they travel to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi starting at 6 o'clock on Friday.
