Demons set to take on Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on the road

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas --  Reigning Louisiana Sports Writer's Association Pitcher of the Week Robert Baker and the Northwestern State baseball team will continue their Southland Conference schedule at 6 o'clock on Friday at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
 
All three games of the series can be heard at 100.7 KZBL in Natchitoches and by live stream at NSUDemons.com.  The second game is scheduled for 5:00 on Saturday and the final will be played on Sunday at 1 o'clock.
 
The Demons' (10-23, 1-8 SLC) game against Louisiana-Lafayette on Wednesday was suspended due to weather.  ULL was up 3-0 in the fourth, and that game has been rescheduled for April 17 in Brown-Stroud Field.
 
Corpus Christi (19-13, 6-3 SLC) is coming off a 12-5 loss to Texas-San Antonio Tuesday.   The Islanders swept completed the three-game sweep of Nicholls State in the series before that. 
 
Left-handed pitcher Cody Butler (1-2, 5.50 ERA) and righty Robert Baker (3-3, 3.23) are expected to start Friday and Saturday, respectively.
 
The Islanders will pitch Trevor Foss (5-3, 2.89) on Friday.  Trevor Belicek (4-1, 3.82) is scheduled for Saturday's matchup and Matt Danton (3-1, 3.58) is expected for Sunday.
 
NSU outfield Will Watson hopes to have a similar performance to last weekend's against Central Arkansas.  He was seven-of-13 with two stolen bases and no strikeouts.
 
He leads the team in batting average (.333) and run batted in (14). Catcher Nick Purdy enters the game with 19-straight games to reach to base safely.
 
Eric Weiss (.336), Brad Porras (.323), Zach Taylor (.320), and Jonathan Gonzales (.318) are each hitting above .300 on the season for Corpus Christi.  Gonzales leads team with 28 RBI.
 
The Demons will play Louisiana Tech on Tuesday and finish the game with ULL on Wednesday before they host Lamar on Friday to open their next conference series.
