NATCHITOCHES – The Northwestern State baseball team will open a three-game weekend series against Louisiana-Monroe at home Friday at 6:30, and play two on Saturday in Monroe.

The final two games, which were originally scheduled for Saturday and Sunday in Monroe, will be a double-header starting at 2 o'clock on Saturday due to the threat of weather through the area.

NSU (7-7) comes in the weekend after splitting a two-game set with Tulane on Tuesday and Wednesday.  The Demons lost the first game 3-0, but bounced back in the second for a 5-1 victory.

ULM (7-5) played one mid-week game against Southland Conference rival McNeese State, and won 17-8 on Tuesday night.

Carey Taylor (1-1, 4.15 ERA) is expected to take the mound for ULM on Friday.  The Demons will throw Robert Baker (2-0, 2.81) to open the series.

Kodie Tidwell, who hits at a .341 clip with seven runs batted in, leads the Warhawks at the plate.  Judd Edwards has eight runs batted in.

Will Watson, who is on a seven-game hit-streak, leads NSU with a .370 batting average. Four games of the seven have been multi-hit contests.

Matt Baca leads the Demons with eight runs batted in, and Toby Cornejo and Todd Wallace each have seven as well.
