Box Score NATCHITOCHES – A single into right field by Jameson Fisher to score Harry Slade from third base in the sixth inning gave Southeastern Louisiana a 3-2 win over the Northwestern State baseball team Friday night to open Southland Conference play.

Saturday's game was moved up from 2:00 to noon to try and avoid possible inclement weather. The final game of the series will be played at 1 o'clock on Sunday.

Northwestern State (9-15, 0-1 SLC) answered SLU's (16-7, 1-0 SLC) two-run second inning with a two-run fifth, but a sixth inning leadoff double by Slade put him on in scoring position as the go-ahead run.

Anthony Haag advanced Slade to third on a sacrifice bunt before Fisher singled to score him.

Fisher led off the second inning with a leadoff single up the middle, and Jesse Buratt followed with a single through the left side. Both advanced on a sacrifice bunt from Sam Roberson.

A walk loaded the bases and Ladd Rhodes sent Fisher home with a walk, and Ben Hernandez scored Buratt on a single through the left side immediatley after.

Edwin Gomez hit a two-out single to shortstop in the fifth inning. Zack Costa followed that with a double down the right field line to score Gomez, and Costa scored on a single by Toby Cornejo.

Bobby Baker (2-2) pitched six innings and gave up all three runs on seven hits and two walks with four strikeouts. Logan Shaftner worked three relief innings and allowed two hits.

Sean Kennel (4-0) took the win on 6.2 innings of work and allowed nine hits and both runs. Mason Klotz threw 2.1 frames and gave up one hit.

NSU's Toby Cornejo led the Demons at the plate with three hits in five tries and one run batted in.

Both Ben Hernandez and Jameson Fisher had multiple hits for the Lions. Hernandez had two, and Fisher finished with three.
