NSU opens seven game road stint with Texas A&M

NATCHITOCHES – The Northwestern State baseball team will start a seven game road swing Tuesday at 6:35 when it opens a two-game series with Texas A&M in Olson Field at Blue Bell Park.
 
The second game will be played on Wednesday at 3:05.
 
NSU (5-2) is coming off a three-game series win against Texas-Pan American, and Texas A&M (5-3) dropped out of Collegiate Baseball's Top 30 after losing two-of-three to Pepperdine.
 
The Demons plan on starting Zach Krebs (1-1) on Tuesday and Andrew Adams (0-0) on Wednesday.  The Aggies will counter with Corey Ray (1-0) and Grayson Long (1-0).
 
Last season, Texas A&M made it to the NCAA regionals, but lost two games in College Station, Tex.  and was eliminated. 
 
This season the Aggies are led by at the plate by senior Mikey Reynolds who is hitting .467 with five runs scored.  Krey Bratsen hits .355 and is tied with Reynolds in runs batted in with five.
 
Northwestern State's Nick Purdy (.393) and Matt Baca (.318) are each hitting over .300 this season.
 
Edwin Gomez and Todd Wallace share the lead in runs batted in with six.  Each had big doubles in the series against UTPA that cleared the bases to lead NSU to wins in the final two games.
 
After TAMU, the Demons will travel to Missouri State for a three-game weekend series followed by a two-game set with Tulane on March 5-6.  March 8 will mark the return for NSU when it takes on Louisiana-Monroe.
