LAFAYETTE -- The Northwestern State baseball team will play its first road game of the 2013 season when the Demons travel to Louisiana-Lafayette for a 6 o'clock first pitch.

NSU (3-0) is coming off of a three-game sweep of Grambling State, including an 8-7 victory in a 16-inning ball game Sunday afternoon. ULL (3-1) won the first three games of a four-game set at home versus Central Michigan by scores of 12-6, 5-3, and 5-4. The Ragin Cajuns lost the final game 10-2.

Right-handed pitcher Zach Krebs (1-0) will get the starting nod for the Demons and Cord Cockrell (1-0) will go for the Cajuns.

Krebs threw four innings in relief Friday night against GSU allowing two hits and one earned run with four strikeouts. Cockrell pitched 4.1 innings in relief for ULL Friday night and allowed one earned run, six hits, and struck out seven.

Last season the Ragin Cajuns beat the Demons 10-8 when ULL scored seven runs in the third inning alone. Eight of their 10 runs were scored before the fourth inning.

Will Waston, Matt Baca, and Nick Purdy all started in the game a year ago. Watson was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, and Purdy had one hit in three tries.

Cockrell pitched two innings against the Demons in last year's matchup and surrendered two hits and one run.

Northwestern State will return home Friday to open a three-game, weekend series against Texas-Pan American.
