TULSA, Okla. – The Northwestern State women's basketball plays the second of a three-game road trip Thursday night when it takes on Oral Roberts at 5 o'clock in Southland Conference action.

NSU (5-8, 1-2 SLC) beat McNeese State in a last second shot, lost a near 10-point comeback to Lamar, and fell to Sam Houston most recently.

Oral Roberts (4-8, 1-1 SLC) has the conference's leading scorer in Kevi Luper who averages 20.4 points a game. She recently became the 48th player in NCAA Division I history to break the 2,500 point mark.

“They (ORU) can score the basketball. They have one of the best scorers in the nation,” said co-head coach Brooke Stoehr. “They can have multiple players who can shoot the basketball on the floor at all times, and we're going to have to do a good job defensively.”

This will be the third meeting between the two programs with NSU winning both, and will mark the first meeting between the two as conference foes. The Golden Eagles are in their first season in the SLC.

NSU continues to be led by Jasmine Upchurch with 11.8 points and 6.7 rebounds a game. Since the open of conference play, she averages 15.7 points and 9.3 boards.

Keisha Lee averages 8.6 points a game, but is scoring 15.3 points a contest in the last three games. Janelle Perez is second on the team in scoring with 10.7 points a game and leads the team in assists with 3.4.

Behind Luper for the Golden Eagles, Jaci Bigham averages 9.8 points a game. Savanna Buck leads ORU in rebounds with 6.2 a contest.

The game can be heard on 100.7 KZBL in Natchitoches, and will be live audio steamed on nsudemons.com.

The Lady Demons will wrap up the road trip at Central Arkansas Saturday before returning home to face Nicholls Jan. 17 in a game that will be broadcast on ESPN 3.
