NATCHITOCHES—
Keisha Lee, who led the Northwestern State women's basketball team to back-to-back wins a week ago, and the Lady Demons will turn their sights to Stephen F. Austin on Saturday at 1 o'clock in Prather Coliseum.
Lee set new career highs with 22 points against Nicholls and then bested that with 23 scores against Southeastern Louisiana. She also set a career best in rebounds with nine against the Colonels.
NSU (7-10, 3-4 Southland Conference) won both games 64-55 and earned its first win streak in league play since 2011. SFA (8-10, 3-4 SLC) is also on a two-game win-streak with wins over SLU, 80-38, and Nicholls, 74-66.
“Number one it's a big rival with NSU, and I think anytime you go into a rivalry game it's special for your university and players,” said first-year co-head coach
Brooke Stoehr. “We've tried to educate ourselves, not only as a new staff, but also the freshmen and younger players of the importance of this rivalry.”
Lee improved her average scoring by three points a game giving her 10 a contest. She ranks third on the team behind
Jasmine Upchurch (11.7) and Janelle Perez (10.8)
SFA's Porsha Roberts leads the Ladyjacks in both points and rebounds per game with 12.9 and 7.5 respectively.
The women's game is the first game of a double-header with the men's teams. The men's game will feature the nation's top scoring offense (NSU) and top scoring defense (SFA).
The contest will be the last of a three-game home stand before the Lady Demons travel to Lamar and McNeese.
