SHREVEPORT -- Reservations are being accepted for the annual AdvoCare V100 Independence Bowl Foundation/Northwestern State Kickoff Luncheon set Thursday, Aug. 23 at 11:45 a.m. at Superior's Steakhouse at the corner of Line and Pierremont in Shreveport.

The event will feature the Demons' head football coach Bradley Dale Peveto and NSU's director of athletics, Greg Burke. The luncheon follows the team's final preseason scrimmage staged the previous night in Turpin Stadium at NSU.

Reservations are being accepted for the Kickoff Luncheon and can be made by calling the Independence Bowl office at 318-221-0712 or toll free at 888-414-BOWL (2695). The lunch will carry an all-inclusive charge of $20 per person, with three entrée choices, and attendees are asked to please pay with cash if possible.

"I'm excited about coming up to Shreveport-Bossier for this luncheon," said Peveto, preparing to launch his fourth season as head coach. "We have a great time every year, going back to my days (1996-98) as an assistant coach. We have a great core of supporters up there and I am looking forward to seeing many of them, having a big-time lunch and letting everyone hear about the latest news on our team."

The Demons kick off their season Sept. 1 at Texas Tech, then play their home opener Sept. 8 in Turpin Stadium against Arkansas-Monticello.

"This is a tremendous event each year for Northwestern State University and for anybody who loves the spirit and excitement of Division I college football," said Burke. "When I was hired as director of athletics at NSU in 1996, this was my first official event as AD on my first day on the job. That's how important we consider the annual luncheon presented by the Independence Bowl, and the Shreveport-Bossier community."

Peveto will preview the Demons' 2012 season at the Kickoff Luncheon and discuss the team's progress during preseason camp.
 
Superior's Steakhouse is the new home for NSU's in-season Shreveport-Bossier Demon Quarterback Club Luncheons held every Thursday at noon during the football season.
