LUBBOCK, Tex. – The Northwestern State volleyball team will travel west this weekend to compete in the Texas Tech Invitational.
The Lady Demons (1-2) will match up against San Jose State and Texas-Pan American on Friday and the Red Raiders Saturday.
NSU's win came against Tennessee-Martin 3-1 last Saturday at the Arkansas Invitational.
Stacey DiFrancesco leads the Lady Demons with 34 kills, 3.09 per set.
Mackenzie Neely follows closely with 27 kills, 2.67/set, and was named to the Arkansas Invitational all-tournament team.
Defensively, libero
Keelie Arneson has recorded 47 digs, 4.27/set.
The Spartans of San Jose State come into Friday's match with a 1-2 record after defeating Buffalo 3-1 and then falling to Southland Conference newcomer Oral Roberts and Canisius last weekend.
Hanah Blume leads SJSU with 43 kills, 3.58/set, and 47 digs, 3.92/set.
Spartan middle blocker Mary Alice O'Reilly was name to the Buffalo all-tournament team after hitting .682 (17-2-22) in their win against Buffalo and tacking on nine blocks against Oral Roberts.
Texas-Pan American enters the weekend with a 1-3 record, most recently losing to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 3-1 on Tuesday evening.
Outside hitter Michelle McNamee leads the Broncos with 33 kills, 2.06/set while libero Juri Franzen has 79 digs, 4.94/set.
The Texas Tech Red Raiders are coming off a 4-0 performance at the Boston College Invitational last weekend where they defeated Fordham, Binghamton, Siena and Boston College.
Red Raider libero Rachel Brummitt earned Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week this week for her 68-dig performance last weekend. Brummit was also named Most Valuable Player of the BC Invitational.
Outside hitter Meghan Stacy leads the team in kills with 38, 2.53/set.
The Lady Demons continue their season on the road next weekend as they head to the Texas Arlington Hilton Invitational.
