NORMAN, Okla.— The Northwestern State basketball team wraps up its toughest stretch of the season Friday night when the Demons take on Oklahoma at 7 o'clock.
The game will be televised by Fox College Sports Central. It will be broadcast on the Demon Sports Network, flagshipped by 100.7 FM KZBL in Natchitoches and including 92.1 KSYR-FM in Shreveport and 99.9 KTEZ FM in Many. The broadcast will be streamed on the NSUDemons.com website.
Oklahoma (5-1) will be the NSU's (3-2) third straight opponent from a power conference after losses at Southeastern Conference clubs LSU and Texas A&M. The three teams (OU, LSU, and Texas A&M) have a combined 14-2 record.
Last season the Sooners took out Northwestern State 83-63 taking the third win in as many games for the all-time series between the two programs. In last year's contest,
James Hulbin led the way for NSU with 18 points followed by
Shamir Davis with 13.
This season newcomers
DeQuan Hicks and Jalen West lead the Demons with 18 and 15 points a game respectively. Hicks also leads the team with 6.8 rebounds game just ahead of Hulbin who averages six.
The Sooners are coming off a close game at Southland Conference program Oral Roberts Wednesday winning 63-62. The Golden Eagles held the lead throughout the game, but Romero Osby's free throws with 2:58 to give OU the lead they'd keep until the end.
This season Osby leads Oklahoma in scoring with 11.2 points a game, Amath M'Baye is tops in boards with seven a game.
The Demons will return home Tuesday at 7:30 to take on longtime in-state rival Louisiana Tech. It will follow up the Lady Demons after they take on Prairie View A&M at 5:30.
