Norman, Okla. – The Northwestern State women's basketball team will conclude its three-game road swing Thursday night when the Lady Demons travel to No. 12-ranked Oklahoma for a 7 o'clock tip-off.
The game will be televised by Fox Sports Southwest Plus and Fox College Sports Central; check local listings for details. It will be broadcast on 100.7 FM KZBL in Natchitoches and audio streamed on nsudemons.com.
Northwestern State (4-2) is coming off a split in the David Jones Classic in Houston defeating Texas-Pan American 63-53 before losing 67-51 to the University of Houston.
Oklahoma (5-1) is on a four-game winning streak that includes wins over Arkansas, Oregon, and Hawai'I in the Rainbow Wahine Showdown in Honolulu.
The Lady Demons are led this season by senior forward
Jasmine Upchurch and freshman guard Janelle Perez. Upchruch averages 12.3 points and 6.8 rebounds a game, both are tops on the team. Perez averages 11.7 points and 3.2 assists per contest.
Through the first six games, NSU has been led in scoring by five different players. Upchurch is the only Lady Demon to lead in two games when she scored 13 at Ole Miss and 30 versus Wiley College.
Markeshia Johnson scored 13 points in the season opener at New Orleans, Perez had 21 in the home opener against Alcorn State,
Keisha Lee recorded 18 against UTPA, and
Jasmine Bradley notched 12 at Houston.
Oklahoma is led this season by Aaryn Ellenberg who averages 16 points a game and Whitney Hand who averages 6.7 boards. Both were selected to the Naismith Women's College Player of the Year watch list.
The Sooners made their 13th consecutive NCAA tournament appearance last season before losing in the second round. This meeting marks the first between the two programs.
NSU will return to Prather Coliseum for a game against Prairie View A&M Tuesday at 5:30 before traveling to Arkansas and Mississippi State.
