Lady Demons travel to Houston's David Jones Classic

HOUSTON- After scoring a career-high 30 points Tuesday night, Jasmine Upchurch will lead the Northwestern State women's basketball team on a three-game road swing starting with the Houston David Jones Classic Friday and Saturday.

Northwestern State (3-1) is scheduled to play Texas-Pan American (2-3) Friday at 3 o'clock and Houston (0-4) Saturday at 12.

The Lady Demons are off to their best start since 2005 after Upchurch's ninth career double-double (14 rebounds) led NSU past Wiley College 65-57.

Texas-Pan American is coming off a 96-42 loss to 21-ranked Oklahoma State. The Broncs are led in scoring by KaeLynn Boyd with 9.6 points per game and Bianca Torre with 9.2 a game.

Houston will enter the tournament after losing 76-72 to Southland Conference member McNeese State Tuesday. Porsche Landry leads the Cougars in scoring with 17.3 points a game.

Northwestern State will end its road trip with 13-ranked Oklahoma Nov. 29.
