NATCHITOCHES – All-America cornerback David Pittman, whose six-season professional football career started with him going in the third round of the 2006 NFL Draft, will be saluted as the Exchange Bank Demon Great of the Game as Northwestern State plays its Homecoming game against Nicholls State Saturday evening at 6 in Turpin Stadium.

Pittman was drafted by Baltimore and also played for New Orleans, Houston and Pittsburgh along with the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League. In 2007, he was included on the Top 100 Demon Football Players of the Century roster when NSU celebrated its football centennial.

The Lutcher native graduated from Northwestern with a business degree before beginning his career with the Ravens. He had two interceptions in a Monday Night Football game at Pittsburgh as a highlight of his four years in the NFL.

A 2005 FCS All-American, Pittman won All-Southland Conference honors in 2004 and 2005, helping the 2004 Demons win the Southland championship and advance to the national playoffs for the second time in his career, along with the 2002 season.

A four-year starter, Pittman snagged 11 interceptions, broke up 26 passes, scored four touchdowns (three on interception returns, one on a fumble runback) and made 153 tackles.

He was the only FCS player invited to the 2006 Senior Bowl in Mobile.

Three-time all-conference halfback Glenn Talbert was spotlighted as the Demon Great of the Game for the Oct. 6 game against Lamar. Quarterback Craig Nall, who had the most spectacular season passing performance in school history before an eight-year NFL career, was the Demon Great of the Game for the Sept. 22 Mississippi Valley State contest in the second home game of 2012. Running back Sidney “Thundering Bull” Thornton, who broke NSU's career rushing record from 1973-76, was the inaugural Demon Great of the Game for the Sept. 8 home opener.

The Demon Great of the Game, presented by Exchange Bank and Trust of Natchitoches, spotlights some of the most outstanding performers in the 105-year history of NSU football. Exchange Bank has been a key supporter of NSU Athletics throughout its long history as the oldest financial institution in Natchitoches.

Fans are encouraged to nominate NSU standouts for the Demon Great of the Game honor. E-mail Todd Garzarelli, associate athletic director, at garzarellit@nsula.edu to make a recommendation.
