NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- The Northwestern State cross country teams line up with six other Southland Conference squads Monday morning for the annual SLC Preconference Meet, this year hosted by Stephen F. Austin at Piney Woods Country Club.

The races will be the prelude to next month's SLC Championships, also to be held at Piney Woods.

Monday's meet will feature nine teams, seven from the SLC. In all, nearly 150 runners will take part with those from Central Arkansas, Sam Houston State, Texas State, Texas-San Antonio, SFA and NSUgetting a preview of the course for the Southland meet. Also running Monday will be Louisiana-Monroe and Lon Morris.

The women's 6,000-meter race is slated to open the competition at 9:00 a.m., followed by the men's 8,000-meter race 45 minutes later.

The Lady Demons, led by individual champion Lawana Perkins, were second at the Louisiana Tech Mook 4 Invitational on Sept. 17. The Demons' top runner was Mark Dotson.

Next Monday, the Northwestern teams will run at home in the NSU Invitational at the Demon Hills Golf Course.
