HAMMOND – The Northwestern State Lady Demons will limp their way into the Southeastern Louisiana Classic on Friday in a game against Florida A&M at 5 followed by a 2 o'clock Saturday contest against Alcorn State in women's basketball action.

The Lady Demons (3-5) were dealt a huge blow three weeks ago when sophomore guard Jasmine Bradley was lost for the season after she suffered a knee injury at Prairie View.  Now, NSU will be without freshman guard Ebony Ford this weekend after she suffered an injury during practice on Wednesday.

NSU is coming off a 95-69 win over Wiley College in its last outing.  In that game, Jordi James tied a career-high with 24 points while Ronikka Drake set a new career-best with 17 points.  Trudy Armstead also notched her third double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

James has taken over as the team leader in scoring with a 13.9 points per game average while Armstead tops the squad in rebounding at 7.5 per game.

As a team, the Lady Demons lead the Southland Conference in scoring offense with 69.5 ppg.  Friday's game against FAMU (3-5) could be a high scoring affair as the Rattlers are averaging 70 points per game.

On Saturday, the Lady Demons will hope to avoid déjà vu against Alcorn State.  The Braves will enter the weekend winless at 0-7.  Last year, Alcorn State was 0-5 when it hosted Northwestern State and defeated the Lady Demons by a 68-66 score to notch its first win of the season.

Following this weekend, the Lady Demons will return home on Wednesday for a special noon tip against Louisiana-Monroe.
