NATCHITOCHES - Northwestern State's Lady Demon squad took home the team championship while the Demon team placed second at the NSU Demon Invitational held at the NSU soccer and track complexes.
Lawana Perkins won the individual title with a time of 18:41.51 in the three-mile race. Teammate Karensa Ellis placed third with a 19:11.47 time followed by a seventh place finish from Andrea Warren at 20:07.91 and Ali Fontenot in 10th at 20:15.26.
The Lady Demons took the top team honor with 36 points followed by Louisiana-Lafayette with 39, Lon Morris at 51, Xavier with 92, Centenary with 160, Louisiana Tech at 162, East Texas Baptist at 167, and Louisiana College with 230 points.
On the men's side, Jose Leos of Lon Morris won the individual title with a 15:30.9 in the 3-mile run. Lon Morris won the men's team title with 29 points followed by Northwestern State at 42, Xavier at 99, Centenary with 100 points and East Texas Baptist finished sixth with 165 points.
NSU's Mark Dotson was the Demons' high scorer after he placed second with a 15:47.5 clocking and Jason Enright in third at 16:08.8.
Friday's meet was the final tune-up before next Thursday's Southland Conference meet in Beaumont.
