Stoker, who had a 43-37 record in six seasons as head coach at his alma mater, broke the Demons’ single-season and career passing records as a quarterback running an option-based offense from 1986-89 … as a junior, helped lead Northwestern to its first Southland Conference championship and a national playoff quarterfinal appearance in a record-breaking 10-3 season in 1988 … is considered one of the more dynamic leaders in Demon football history … on the Top 100 Demons of the Century roster chosen in the 2007 football centennial celebration … as head coach from 2002-08, Stoker led NSU to two playoff appearances and won 43 games … nationally ranked in four different seasons led by the vaunted “Purple Swarm” defense, which finished in the top 15 nationally three different times … defense ranked as high as No. 3 in the nation.
