The Dry Prong native was a two-time All-Gulf States Conference competitor for Coach Walter Ledet’s Demons, and helped launch the incredible run of five straight GSC team titles for Northwestern with crowns in his junior and senior seasons… was team captain of that championship squad that won five conference triangular meets and lost only one … he, Murrell “Sister” Walker, Waple Lilley and M.B. Childress set a GSC record in the mile relay … “Doak” won the GSC 440-yard dash title twice.
