His No. 29 Demon baseball jersey is one of four retired here … he won 50 games and had a 4.19 career ERA in six seasons in the major leagues, including a 15-win season in 2004 for the Padres … had five years (2001-05) with San Diego and also pitched for the Mets in 2007 … was the National League Player of the Week April 14, 2002 …   had 13 years overall as a professional pitcher … 1998 Southland Conference Pitcher of the Year with an overall 9-5 record and 2.93 ERA, striking out 104 in 110.2 innings, leading the conference in strikeouts and innings pitched while ranking fourth in ERA …in 1997, he also was first-team All-Southland with an 8-5 record and 3.02 ERA … his 15 starts tied the school record, which he broke in 1998 with 18 starts (19 appearances) … also batted .235 with two doubles, six RBI as a senior … All-Louisiana and All-South Central Region first-team in 1998 … Demons won two straight Southland Conference championships in his two seasons, posting an overall 75-43 record under Dave Van Horn (1997) and John Cohen (1998) with pitching coaches Rob Childress (1997) and Sean McCann (1998).
