Welsey Miller is in his third season with the Northwestern State track and field coaching staff. The San Antonio native joined the NSU staff in the 2011-12 season as a graduate assistant and spent most of the 2012-13 as a volunteer assistant
Miller was named assistant coach, specializing in jumps, in the fall of 2013.
In his short time with NSU, Miller has already helped mold the Demon and Lady Demon jumpers into a formidable force in the Southland Conference, producing 15 All-SLC performers in jumps, four Southland Conference champions, five runner-ups and six third place finishers.
Miller has coached his jumpers to 35 individual top-10 finishes in SLC Championships, including 20 in the triple jump, in just two seasons. ??
Miller is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist and has completed USA Track and Field Level 1 Certification, along with earning USTFCCCA combined events specialist status.
Prior to joining the Northwestern State staff, Miller was the head track and field coach at San Antonio Christian Middle School from 2009-2010 and the head cross-country coach from 2008-2010. During his time with the Lions, Miller coached his teams to three Independent Schools Athletic League Track and Field Championships in girl’s and boy’s 6th-8th grade divisions and one boy’s ISAL Cross-Country Championship in 2010. His student-athletes registered 73 podium finishes, including 24 event titles, at ISAL Championships and set 21 new records in three seasons.
A 2011 graduate of Texas-San Antonio, Miller received his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in physical education.

Miller is married to Kyle Zambrana of San Antonio. She is a physical education teacher at Lakeview High School.
