Cross Country puts first meet in the books after ULM Invite

MONROE – In Northwestern State's opening act of the cross country season at the ULM Warhawk Invite, Lady Demon senior Erin Wrozek seized first place individually, leading the Lady Demon team took a second place finish in the three-team event featuring Grambling and host ULM.
 
The Lady Demon squad claimed three of the top-five spots, as Wrozek (1st), fellow senior Emily Sitarz (4th) and sophomore Emily Heard (5th) led the way for the women's team.
 
Others placing for the Lady Demons were senior Erin Sitarz, (11th), freshman Isabella Hudson (12th), transfer student Hannah Heidebrecht (13th) and freshman Atianna Parks (17th).
 
The men's team finished third as freshman Darius Groves led the way for the Demons (7th, 18:33).
 
Others participating on the men's side were: freshman Blake Cantrell (14th, 19:08), senior Grant Butts (18th, 19:52), junior Dylan Dunford (20th, 20:16), freshman Hayden Robertson (21st, 20:46), sophomore Jacob Hammons (22nd, 22:08), freshman Colby Clark (23rd, 22:15), freshman Denim Reeves (24th, 22:24), senior Hunter Womack (26th, 22:49), senior Anthony Renteria (27th, 23:28), and senior Tyler Corwin (28th, 26:55).
 
The NSU cross country teams will travel to Louisiana Tech on Sept. 16 for the Mook Triple Duals that are slated to begin at 8:45 a.m. in Ruston, LA.
