FT. MEYERS, Fla. – The Northwestern State women's tennis team is set to open its spring season at Florida Gulf Coast this weekend at the Lady Eagle Classic.
Along with the NSU team and host team, FGCU, the event at the FGCU Tennis Complex will include entries from Northern Florida, North Texas, Iowa State and Liberty.
The competition will be in flights in singles and doubles play. NSU's first dual team match will be at LSU next Saturday.
“We are excited to begin this spring at the Florida Gulf Coast Invitational,” said Lady Demon tennis head coach Patric Dubois. “We get to play very good competition right from the start in tournament format to prepare us for the team match season.”
The Lady Demons are led by senior captain
Andrea Nedorostova, last year's Southland Conference Freshman of the Year
Tatiana Larina and 2012 first team All-Southland singles performer
Polina Konop.
Also competing for NSU will be the freshman trio of
Vanja Bogetic,
Natalya Krutova and
Daniela Simonova.
The Lady Demons host their first home match of the season on Friday, Feb. 1 against Abilene Christian.
